Meet the Volunteer of the Month

volunteer-october-lundy

Name: Nate Lundy

How long have you volunteered for the Y? I’ve been a volunteer at the Y for 1 month.

I support the Y by… Assisting the Youth Sports Department out of the Mapleton Y in any capacity needed.

I volunteer with the Y because… I applied to volunteer for the Y to complete my internship for Metropolitan State College of Denver. I specifically chose the Y because of the presence they have in the Boulder community and the fact that it is a nonprofit organization. The Y does amazing things in this community and hands out thousands of dollars’ worth of scholarships to families in need, and that’s the kind of organization I want to be affiliated with.

Volunteering in general is important to me because… Volunteering is important to me because strong communities do not exist without the presence of volunteers. No matter what organization you volunteer for it makes a community stronger.

What’s your advice for people who are thinking about volunteering for the Y? My advice for anyone thinking about volunteering for the Y is just sign up and do it. You will not regret it. The staff support is wonderful, and you’ll have a good time.

What’s your favorite part of volunteering? My favorite part of volunteering is getting to get out to the fields with soccer and flag football going on and seeing the end product we provide. Getting to see all the kids out there having a blast with their friends and parents is truly awesome.

Why We Love Him

“Nate gets 'it.' He know our members expect high quality programs and great customer service. He is always ready to roll up his sleeves and help with our programs, from lining the athletic fields to preparing coaching lists. Nate does everything with a smile. He’s been a terrific addition to our staff, and when his internship ends, it will be hard to see him go! Thank you, Nate!” — Jessica Adler Clay, Director of Talent Acquisition
