Volunteer of the Month: Molly Lord

Sep 5, 2017, 09:48 AM by Y Staff

Name: Molly Lord

How long have you volunteered for the Y? 1 month

I support the Y by: I am the Marketing and Communications Intern. I help with creating blog posts, research and working with our communications team to help promote all the different programs the Y offers.

Molly Lord is the Volunteer of the month

I volunteer with the Y because: I’ve been working with children for the last 10 years, and I love that with the Y, I’m able to do work that impacts children. I think that the Y does so much for our community and communities across the country, so it’s great to even be a small part of that impact.

Volunteering in general is important to me because: It can be so easy to get bogged down in the negativity that exists in our world today between the news, social media and just life, so I think through volunteering, it becomes easier to see how much good there really is in the world. When you volunteer, you get to see the best of people.

What is your advice for people who are thinking about volunteering for the Y? Go for it! There’s an opportunity for everybody, and it’s a decision you won’t regret. Working alongside the Y staff is such a positive experience, and it’s just a fun place to spend time.

What’s your favorite part of volunteering? I love being a part of the Y team and seeing how much enthusiasm the staff has for their programs and the Y members. It’s contagious!

Why We Love Molly

"Interning in the marketing department is pretty different from most volunteer roles at the Y, but I think it's incredible that someone would choose to advance their career in a professional field while also supporting the cause of a nonprofit. That says a lot about who Molly is. She has been such a positive, energetic and hard working addition to our team. Molly has made a big impact in such a short period of time, and we are lucky to have her supporting our marketing and awareness efforts. No task is too big or too small, and she's been a rock star while leading the charge on a couple major digital advertising and content marketing projects. So happy to have her here!"—Andra Coberly Webster, Communications Director for the YMCA of Boulder Valley
