Service-Learning Opportunities Information Night

at Arapahoe Y

Come to our information night to learn about service-learning opportunities for middle and high school student. These programs give teens the opportunity to expand their perspective on the world and support communities that are far less advantaged.

Peru YMCA Opportunity
We are continuing our partnership with the Peru Y for the fourth year. Every summer, we take a group of 12 high school students (rising juniors, seniors or newly graduated) to Peru to work with the youth programs run by the Peru Y in Lima. The trip is an enriching and rewarding experience that culminates in a private tour through the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. This trip is part of the Global Teen Leadership program that meets monthly up until the two-week trip in June/July. The deadline to apply for this program is February 1. Learn more.

Sioux YMCA Opportunity
The Sioux YMCA is located in the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota and serves local communities in the area. This service-learning trip is for rising 8th-10th grade students and will be part of our YMCA Leader in Training two-week program. One week will be spent learning and participating in leadership exercises at our local Y and one week will be spent supporting the Sioux Y. Students will work with day camp leaders to provide fun and educational programs for local youth while having a life-changing experience on the reservation. There will be an application process for June program. More details to be announced.
