Youth Boxing at Arapahoe (Ages 10-15)

This is a free youth fitness class inspired by boxing moves and drills. Participants are led by an experienced instructor through basic boxing skills and techniques such as: guard, movement, jab, cross, hook in a fast-paced and fun environment. Increase strength and improve endurance fast!

Youth HIIT (Ages 12-18)

HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This type of training is scientifcally proven to improve fitness, athleticism, and body composition.

YMCA Youth Triathlon Squad (Ages 8-13)

Youth Triathlon Squad is a four-week triathlon training block for young athletes to condition and build a strong foundation in swimming, biking and running during the winter months. Join us for weekly coached swimming, indoor cycling and running sessions to prepare for the summer triathlon season. Athletes of all abilities and experience levels are welcome on our squad! Whether you are an absolute beginner or an experienced athlete, our coaches will provide appropriate training based on your individual needs in an encouraging and motivating environment. Athletes will be required to provide their own swim, bike and running gear.

Meet Coach Corey: As a young endurance athlete, Corey completed his first long-distance race as a 12-year-old, breaking 2 hours in a 15.5-mile running competition. After college and doing a tour in Iraq as a Marine, Corey began his journey with triathlon, and he has since worked with some of the best coaches in the world. Corey is a two-time USAT All American Triathlete and is working torward racing professionally. Corey is excited to share his passion for the sport with young athletes as our triathlon coach.

Lil’ Dancers (Ages 3-5)

Children who love to twirl, twist, shimmy and shake their groove things are invited to join the Y’s new Lil Dancers classes. An introduction to ballet, this footloose and fancy free class is designed to give your little one a life-long love of movement. Children use their imaginations and their bodies to creatively express themselves through movement games, songs and dance. Your child will trip the light fantastic with other kiddos who love to move to music.

La Familia Boxing (Ages 8-16)

Hosted at the Longmont Y, La Familia Boxing teaches kids and teens commitment, dedication, discipline, honor and respect through the sport of boxing. Both boys and girls are welcome to join this program at the Longmont Y to discover a hard-hitting sport that can change lives. Hand wraps are needed to participate.

Monday-Friday, 5:30-7:30pm, Longmont Y

Shotokan: Traditional Japanese Karate

Increase physical fitness, coordination, confidence, discipline, concentration and knowledge of self-defense skills. Bruce Green, chief instructor and 8th-degree black belt, is assisted by John Burdick, 5th degree black belt, as well as CJ Herman and Maelo Maldonado, both 4th degree black belts. Bruce Green has been training in karate for 48 years and is a certified instructor, examiner, and judge. The style of karate taught is Shotokan, a traditional form of Japanese karate. Master Yutaka Yaguchi is our regional chief instructor.

Endurance Sports and Games in the Water (Ages 13-17)

A new class designed to expose swimmers to many types of water activities. We do a little of everything — competitive swimming, synchronized swimming, water polo and snorkeling. This new format will help swimmers develop healthy lifestyles by being active, building confidence, socializing and having fun.

Basketball and Volleyball (Ages 8+)

Grow your game! This one-on-one training is designed specifically for the young athlete who wants to progress in his or her sport. Your child can take his or her game to the next level with a highly experienced Y Certified Coach. Trainings are offered year-round.
