Foundations: A Parkinson’s & Multiple Sclerosis Fitness Program

Learn how to move faster, improve balance and practice multi-tasking. This free program will help you focus your attention and offer you a workout that combats the impacts of Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis. This class incorporates exercises that target specific deficits and focuses on strength, balance and flexibility. The exercises are enhanced to include cognition, voice and fun. You will make new friends and have fun while you exercise.

Yoga For Parkinson’s

This drop-in class includes yoga, qi gong and other exercises specifically designed for people with Parkinson’s. We work on increasing range of movement, flexibility and improving balance. These practices are calming and have positive effects on the parasympathetic nervous system. Learning to move mindfully and bringing each movement to completion helps prevent falls. Practical issues such as getting up off the floor, crawling and rolling over are also addressed.

Give Parkinson’s the good ole’ one-two by stepping in the ring for some non-contact boxing! We promise that you will leave feeling empowered! Power Punch Parkinson’s is Colorado’s first non-contact boxing program for people with Parkinson’s disease. Our classes have a unique partnership of expert boxing instructors from the Y with physical therapists from Life Care Center of Longmont. Recent physical therapy research has shown boxing to be effective in improving balance, mobility and quality of life. Our classes are fun, energetic and individualized to your abilities. Hand wraps and gloves provided. Free to members. Non-members may attend with guest fee.
