In July, all youth sports programs will be conducted in a small group format designed to minimize risk in accordance with the current recommendations from the CDC as well as local and state agencies. Clinic sessions for our younger athletes will require a parent or guardian to participate alongside their player, and clinic sessions for our older athletes will follow the guidelines for team-based training meaning athletes will remain in a single, small group for the full duration of the program. These formats pose the lowest risk according to the CDC guidelines. All sessions will have limited space available to ensure small group sizes, and all programs will have increased support from our director level staff to monitor the additional precautionary measures taken throughout the program.

Detailed program-specific plans for your athlete’s day-of experience will be shared with all registered participants prior to the first session, however, here are some general measures that will be in place for all youth sports programs at the Y:

  • All participants will be provided with their own set of freshly sanitized materials for each session. No equipment from home will be permitted, and participants will not be allowed to share equipment during program.
  • Program space(s) will be clearly marked to keep participants and spectators separate in accordance with the most up to date social distancing guidelines.
  • Every participant will be required to have a parent or guardian present on site for the full program session. We request that only one parent/guardian attend program with each athlete, and any other spectators prepare to watch from their vehicles.
  • Group size will be limited to ensure compliance with the local, state and CDC guidelines regarding social distancing in the youth sports setting.
  • Additional director-level staff will be on site during all sessions to support participants and families in navigating the new program format and added prevention measures.
  • All participants will be required to complete a well-check upon arrival and sign off that they have been symptom free for at least 48 hours prior to the start of the session. Any participants showing symptoms will not be permitted to stay and may be required to quarantine for a period of time prior to attending program.
  • Additional hand washing and/or sanitizing will take place within sessions and participants will be required to bring their own refillable water bottle to each session.
  • In accordance with CDC recommendations, all staff and spectators will be required to wear masks or face coverings at all times. Athletes will only wear masks when not actively participating in the clinic sessions.
