YMCA and CU Athletics are pleased to team up to offer YMCA Jr. Buffs Lacrosse. Participants of the YMCA Jr. Buffs sports programs will receive the benefit of the expertise of both organizations. For each YMCA Jr. Buffs sport, CU has a team, so you can be sure to get the best youth sports experience possible.


The YMCA Lightning: CARA Traveling Boys Lacrosse (Ages 10-14)

Your child knows lacrosse, he loves it and he wants to take his game to the next level. As a part of the YMCA Lightning, our CARA Traveling Boys Lacrosse program, players harness the skills, techniques and knowledge they have learned and join a competitive community of committed lacrosse players. Our coaches provide an environment where players learn sportsmanship, camaraderie and teamwork as well as equal playing time. Equipment Required: Stick, helmet, gloves, shoulder and elbow pads, cup and mouth guard. Hockey gear is acceptable. New players can borrow the Y’s used equipment.

CARA Lacrosse Parent/Player Meeting: Sun, March 10, 3:30pm, Arapahoe Y

Pick up uniforms, meet coaches and ask questions about the upcoming season.

Practice: Sundays, March 11-May 8, 5:30-7:00pm, Arapahoe Y

Games: Saturdays, March 23-May 4, 9:00am-5:00pm, Denver Metro Area

Plus $25 uniform fee. There is a $25 late fee as of March 1.



Learn to Play Lacrosse Sticks and Skills (Ages 6-10)

We are putting “lax” in “relax” with Sticks and Skills, a no-contact, low-commitment program that introduces the sport of lacrosse to young athletes. Boys and girls will learn positions, rules, core concepts and basic skills in a fun, laid back environment, helping them gain experience and build confidence before joining a lacrosse league. No equipment required.

Learn to Play Lacrosse Family Sticks and Skills (Parents and Kids, Ages 5+)

Mom has skills! During Family Sticks and Skills, parents and players bond as they learn the game of lacrosse together. This program focuses on basic skills of passing, catching, dodging and shooting. While teaching rules and traditions during scrimmages, players gain experience, build confidence and spend quality time with their parents. No equipment is required.

Covers one parent and one child. $25 for each additional participant.


Learn to Play Lacrosse Scrimmage and Skills (Ages 8-12)

Your child knows a thing or two about lacrosse, but they aren’t quite ready for our travel league. We get it. That’s why we’ve developed the new Learn to Play Lacrosse program, which helps kids develop their skills and refine their techniques in a fun, low-commitment environment. With the help of our volunteer coaches, this program empowers kids to grow into confident, capable players.
