YMCA and CU Athletics are pleased to team up to offer YMCA Jr. Buffs Volleyball. Participants of the YMCA Jr. Buffs sports programs will receive the benefit of the expertise of both organizations. For each YMCA Jr. Buffs sport, CU has a team, so you can be sure to get the best youth sports experience possible.


Learn to Play Volleyball (3rd-4th Grade)

Is your kiddo ready to learn the difference between a set and a shank? To keep their eyes on the ball and their knees bent? To dive with ease? The Y has developed Learn to Play Volleyball, a new program that gives our youngest athletes the opportunity to learn this fast-paced sport in a fun, instructive and supportive environment. With heavily modified rules, the program is designed to make volleyball accessible and enjoyable to young players. Our experienced coaches will teach the rules and fundamentals through developmentally appropriate skills and drills as well as team scrimmages. End of season game day included; schedule TBD.

Volleyball Scrimmage and Skills (5th-9th Grade)

Serving the ball over the net, learning to set, controlling your passes. This new Y program is all about volleyball skill development — helping young players attain the ability and confidence to thrive on the court. Volleyball Scrimmage and Skills is a fun, clinic-style program that empowers kids to grow into confident, capable players.

Longmont Volleyball Skills Clinic (3rd-6th grade, coed)

If your little hitter needs help mastering their overhand serve or controlling their passes, we have just the thing. 
The Y is partnering with the City of Longmont to offer a one-day skills clinic to get young players ready for the spring volleyball season. With the instruction of experienced, supportive coaches, players will move through skill-development stations designed specifically to help them brush up on hitting, serving, passing and setting before the season kicks off. Special guests and giveaways will round out this day of fun.

Rec Volleyball League (5th-6th Grades)

Volleyball was pioneered by the YMCA in the 1870s, and today it is still a much-loved sport for boys and girls who want a challenging, captivating game to try. Our rec league gives players opportunities to learn and develop volleyball skills and mechanics in a friendly, low-pressure setting. We empower and engage players to serve hard, jump high and play as a team. Teams will play against a mix of Y teams and teams representing local municipalities.

Plus $24 uniform fee. There is a $25 late fee as of March 15.


The YMCA Firecracker: CARA Volleyball (7th-8th Grade)

The Firecracker, the Y’s new CARA Volleyball program, helps players build confidence on the court, hone skills and experience the thrill of a traveling league. This program is perfect for players who want to prepare for high school or club volleyball in a fun, team-focused setting.

Summer Volleyball Mini Camps (3rd-9th Grade)

During our summer volleyball camps, your child will learn and build on the fundamentals of volleyball skills in a positive and fun environment. These two-day camps are the perfect primer for players new to the sport as well as for returning players looking to continue their skill development. Coaches will break players up based on age and ability for skills drills and scrimmages. Knee pads are strongly recommended.

Learn to Play Beach Volleyball (Entering 3rd-4th Grade)

Players will build upon their skills in a fun and relaxed summer clinic. Sessions will take place on the sand court when possible and will give young players the opportunity to learn the game in a fun-filled summer session.

Summer Beach Volleyball League (Entering 5th-9th Grade)

This fast-paced league will give players the opportunity to continue to develop and grow their volleyball skills on the sand court! Teams will play 2-3 short games per session and will practice together on the indoor courts between games. Players will be split inot teams each week by our coaches.
