10th Annual Strong Kids Triathlon

Presented by Boulder Community Health

For Ages 2-15

Ten years of sunny mornings and winning smiles, giggles and glory, fortitude and photo finishes, triumph and tricycles. The YMCA of Northern Colorado is thrilled to bring local families the 10th Annual Strong Kids Triathlon, a race day like no other.

Grab your camera. Bring the floaties. Harness your inner cheerleader. This is about to get adorable.

During the Strong Kids Triathlon, children take on our kid-friendly course — swimming, pedaling and running through the finish line, where medals and victory dances await. Olympic and collegiate athletes will be on hand for high fives and support. Crowds will cheer, hugs will be given and snacks will be served. No experience is necessary, but fun is required.

Proceeds from the event will help families in need pay for Y programs.

Please pick up your registration packet with your map, t-shirt, race bib and parent wristband on Thursday, July 25 or Friday, July 26, 8:00am-8:00pm at the Arapahoe Y.We cannot guarantee shirt sizes. All shirts will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.

Race Details

Children will race in heats determined by age groups. Each heat will cater to the skill of each child. Children will begin with lap(s) at the pool, continue with lap(s) on their bikes or trikes and finish with a run around the turf field.

During the swim portion, we will have lifeguards in the water and on deck. Racers who cannot swim or need help in the water will be assisted by lifeguards. Racers may use flotation devices (such as noodles, kick boards or floaties). Distance varies by wave.

  • 6-7: 1 length (25 meters)
  • 8-9: 2 lengths (50 meters)
  • 10-11: 4 lengths (100 meters)
  • 12 & older: 6 lengths (150 meters)

Our bike course is completely closed to traffic. Racers may use training wheels, kick bikes, etc. Distances are approximate and vary by wave.

The running course loops the turf field. Volunteers will be on the course to help you count laps. On your final lap, turn onto the field and head to the finish line! Distances are approximate and vary by wave.

Check out more photos from last year’s event. We took LOTS of photos. So many, in fact, that we couldn't fit them all in one Facebook album.
