Next year, the Y is partnering with YMCA España to bring international teens ages 13–17 to our overnight camp, YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake, as part of an English-language immersion program. And we need families like yours to help make it happen.

During this international camp program, Spanish campers will join us at Camp Tumbleson Lake for four weeks. Host families will welcome one international camper into their homes for three weekends: Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. Three weekends to make a lifetime of memories.

Host Home Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, welcoming space with a private room for three summer weekends.
  • Offer meals and snacks from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch.
  • Transportation to and from camp on Sundays.
  • Participation in at least one American cultural experience. The Y will also host a gathering for all Spanish campers and host families.

Who You'll Be Welcoming:

These are curious, adventurous teens from YMCA Spain's camp programs, here to practice their English, experience American culture and discover what community looks like in a new place. They're coming to learn, grow and connect. We encourage you to help them practice their English skills as much as possible.

Here’s How We Work with Host Families:

Host families go through a thorough screening process — including background checks, a home safety review and an interview — and receive full training, orientation and host family handbook before the program begins. The Y is your partner from day one.

Ready to Open Your Home?

We're looking for 8–10 families for our inaugural year. Email Drew Kelley to learn more or to express interest in hosting a teen camper in 2027.
