The Carlston Ice Arena at the Lafayette Y is a community rink where people of all ages, all abilities and all skill levels have a safe and inclusive environment to learn new skills, build confidence, make friends and fall in love with ice sports. Our ice programs are not simply about developing better skaters; we are working to empower youth, nurture positive values and build a community. From tiny skaters to adult hockey players, the Carlston Ice Arena is a place where everyone can find a passion and show some heart.

Stick & Puck

It's time to fine-tune your hockey skills during our stick and puck sessions! 

Adult Drop-In Hockey

Non-checking, recreational pick-up games open to players of various skill levels. No referees are present.

Adult League

The Y offers no-check adult recreational hockey leagues with weekly games, playoffs, and certified referees.

Stewards Hockey

By staff invitation only, YMCA Stewards Hockey is a weekly pickup group that brings together supporters of the YMCA of Northern Colorado for fun, community, and connection on the ice.

Youth Hockey

The Y offers a progressive hockey program that includes learn-to-play hockey, camps and clinics and the Lafayette Locomotive Youth Hockey Club. 

Mile High Mites

Mile High Mites is a beginner-friendly hockey program for ages 5–9 at the Lafayette Y, offering a fun, age-appropriate introduction to the game in partnership with the Colorado Avalanche.

Skate Conditioning

These drop-in classes give skaters strength and cardio workouts while improving skating skill.

Freestyle

Enjoy drop-in open ice practice for figure skaters working on jumps, spins, and edges. For level 5 and above.

Break the ice at the Y! Our progressive Learn to Skate program helps people of all ages take the first steps on the ice and grow their confidence and skill in skates. 

Ice RInk

Lafayette YMCA - Carlston Ice Arena

The YMCA members and non-members can reserve and use the ice whenever it is not being used for programs.

Ice is rented at a minimum of one hour in length and can be increased by increments of 15 minutes.
