Lafayette Locomotive

After a very successful inaugural season with several state and league championships, the Hockey Club Lafayette is back for year two! Playing under the name of Lafayette Locomotive, HC Lafayette will continue to provide the family atmosphere expected from the YMCA as well as an experienced hockey leadership that will continue to grow the culture and programming at the Carlston Arena.

The Lafayette Locomotive name is a nod to the town’s rich railroad history that lead to the mining expansion and settlement of Colorado in the late 1800s. Lafayette’s railroads served an important role in the support of rock mines in the Rocky Mountains and built the foundation for the close-knit community that we all know and love today.

HCL - Lafayette Locomotive Pre-Season Skills and Drills (8U-18U)

The HC Lafayette Pre-Season Skills and Drills sessions are designed to provide players a low-stress environment where they can participate in quality training sessions and meet HC Lafayette division directors and coaches prior to being evaluated at tryouts.

Many recreational players take the summer off of hockey in order to pursue other sports or interests while others train year round. HC Lafayette supports players who choose to be multi-sport athletes and works to give all players the opportunity to knock the rust off and get back into the hockey groove before the start of the season.

CRHL (10U-18U)

The Colorado Rec Hockey League (CRHL) is a youth hockey league that emphasizes skills development with a recreational component. Our Lafayette Locomotive CRHL program offers an alternative to the highly competitive environment of travel hockey. The plan is to have three teams at Squirt and PeeWee, two at Bantam, one at Midget. With an Advanced (Red), Intermediate (White) and Beginner (Blue) division at each level in the CRHL. We will have a team for every caliber of player at HC Lafayette.

Squirt, Peewee, Bantam, and Midget CRHL teams will have two practices during the week with the option for an additional practice with the Lafayette Locomotive Skill Development Program and an average of one game on the weekend according to league mandates.

All players at Squirt and PeeWee will be required to attend evaluations unless they request to be placed on the bottom division team. All Midget and Bantam players are required to attend evaluations.

Season Dates: Late Aug/early Sept-late Feb/Mid March (depending on tournament schedule).
