Calling all young athletes ready to take the ice! 

The Lafayette Locomotive Hockey Program is excited to offer our premier 8U development program, designed to introduce the sport of hockey to beginning players.

This program is perfect for players born in 2016 or later who have some basic skating experience. Our enthusiastic coaches will guide them through the fundamentals of hockey in a fun and supportive environment, fostering a love for the game.

We follow the USA Hockey ADM (American Development Model) program, ensuring a structured and age-appropriate curriculum. This model features three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced, allowing players to progress at their own pace.

8U Select: Full-Throttle Hockey Fun! 

  • Perfect for: Families seeking a comprehensive hockey experience. 
  • Practice: Twice weekly sessions to hone skills and build confidence. 
  • Games & Scrimmages: Enjoyable weekend matchups against other teams and internal scrimmages for extra ice time. 
  • Skill Levels: Evaluations ensure players are placed in the appropriate group (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced).

8U Open: A Fun and Flexible Introduction 

  • Ideal for: Families new to hockey or wanting a less time-intensive commitment. 
  • Ice Time: Two touches per week (one practice and one scrimmage). 
  • Focus on Fun: Develop basic skills and cultivate a love for the game in a relaxed environment. 
  • Perfect Stepping Stone: A great way to ease into the sport before potentially transitioning to 8U Select.

Season Details: 

  • Regular season programming begins the week after evaluations. 
  • The 8U season runs from October through February.
