Session 1 (June 4-9), Session 3 (June 18-23), Session 7 (July 16-21), Session 9 (July 30-Aug 4)

Welcome to Environmentalist Trailblazers Camp, an experience for eco-centric teenagers who are ready for something special. As a camper going down this stream, you have more independence than ever as you delve deep into the search for connection with your inner child, your friends, your mentors and the land. Campers look forward to beginning a day with sunrise stretching and salutations and, weather permitting, with a polar plunge in the lake! You facilitate an outdoor cookout with balanced recipes of your own making and spend more time on trails learning about your relationship with local flora and fauna in the scope of Leave No Trace guidelines. Campers present a skit at closing campfire showcasing new skills and lessons learned along the way.

As an Environmentalist Trailblazer, you also participate in camp classics, such as hiking, tie-dying, archery, swimming and s’mores, and revel in camp traditions, including Breakfast of Champions, opening and closing campfires, battle for the paddle and a bead ceremony.

Option 2: High Adventure Mountain Sports Trailblazers Camp - 6 days, 5 nights

Session 2 (June 11-16), Session 4 (June 25-30), Session 6 (July 9-14), Session 8 (July 23-28)

Start breaking in your hiking shoes today — because campers will spend their week at YMCA Camp Santa Maria developing rock climbing, mountain biking and backpacking skills out of the basecamp of a traditional cabin. Elevate your belay skills under the close supervision of experienced instructors, get to know the trails from the dynamic perspective of your mountain bike, and prepare for a one-night backpacking excursion in the backcountry. Campers are welcome to bring their own mountain bikes and climbing shoes, but these are not required.

Our adventurers help create community among our campers and foster independence, resilience and confidence as well as a mountain-load of hard skills and outdoor knowledge. There will also be plenty of time for camp classics, such as hiking, tie-dying, archery, swimming and s’more eating, as well as beloved traditions, including Breakfast of Champions, opening and closing campfires, battle for the paddle and a bead ceremony.
