Outdoor Adventure Camp (Ages 10-16)

There are two Outdoor Adventure Camps: Backpacking or Backpacking and Climbing. All Outdoor Adventure Camps will stay in platform tents or yurts while at camp.

Ages 10-12

 

Outdoor Adventure Camp Option 1: Backpacking

6 days, 5 nights (2 nights in the backcountry)  
Session 1 (June 2-7), Session 2 (June 9-14), Session 6 (July 7-12), Session 9 (July 28-August 2), Session 10 (August 4-August 9)

During this traditional-backcountry hybrid camp, campers will have the opportunity to participate in classic activities such as paddling and archery in addition to 2 nights of backpacking at Camp Santa Maria. Up the mountain, campers will develop skillsets such as water filtration, backcountry cooking, Leave No Trace, and most importantly, a sense of independence. Campers will stay in platform tents when they are not backpacking and will also participate in traditional elements such as opening and closing campfires, an all-camp activity, Breakfast of Champions, and more! Camping gear, such as sleeping pads and overnight packs, are supplied.

Outdoor Adventure Camp Option 2: Climbing

6 days, 5 nights (2-3 nights in the backcountry) 
Session 3 (June 16-21), Session 4 (June 23 - 28), Session 7 (July 14-19), Session 8 (July 21-26)

During this traditional-backcountry hybrid camp, campers will have the opportunity to participate in classic activities such as paddling and archery in addition to 2 nights of backpacking and up to two mornings of climbing (weather permitting) at Camp Santa Maria. Up the mountain, campers will develop skillsets such as water filtration, backcountry cooking, Leave No Trace, and most importantly, a sense of independence. Campers will stay in platform tents when they are not backpacking and will also participate in traditional elements such as opening and closing campfires, an all-camp activity, Breakfast of Champions, and more! Camping gear, such as sleeping pads and overnight packs, are supplied.

Outdoor Adventure Camp Option 1: Backpacking

6 days, 5 nights (2-3 nights in the backcountry)
Session 1 (June 2-7), Session 2 (June 9-14), Session 6 (July 7-12), Session 9 (July 28-August 2), Session 10 (August 4-August 9)

During this traditional-backcountry hybrid camp, teens will have the opportunity to participate in classic activities such as kayaking and archery in addition to 3 nights of backpacking (weather permitting) at Camp Santa Maria. Campers will have the opportunity to explore different campsites from an aspen grove to an open cave nestled in the treeline. Up the mountain, campers will develop skillsets such as water filtration, backcountry cooking, Leave No Trace, and most importantly, a sense of independence. Campers will stay in platform tents when they are not backpacking and will also participate in traditional elements such as opening and closing campfires, an all-camp activity, Breakfast of Champions, and more! Camping gear, such as sleeping pads and overnight packs, are supplied.

Outdoor Adventure Camp Option 2: Climbing

Session 3 (June 16-21), Session 4 (June 23 - 28), Session 7 (July 14-19), Session 8 (July 21-26)

During this traditional-backcountry hybrid camp, teens will have the opportunity to participate in classic activities such as kayaking and archery in addition to 3 nights of backpacking and two mornings of climbing (weather permitting) at Camp Santa Maria. Campers will have the opportunity to explore different campsites near the climbing site. This camp is oriented toward teens who want to work on their top-roping skills and teamwork in addition to Leave No Trace guided experiences such as respecting wildlife, filtering water and cooking, and minimal impact tent camping. Campers will stay in platform tents when they are not backpacking and will also participate in traditional elements such as opening and closing campfires, an all-camp activity, Breakfast of Champions, and more! Camping gear, such as sleeping pads and overnight packs, are supplied.
