A Healthier, Happier Workforce

A healthy and active lifestyle leads to mental and physical well-being. Studies have shown that healthy employees are happy employees, and happy employees are more productive employees. The YMCA makes it simple for your company to offer a tremendous perk to your employees while creating numerous benefits for your company.

The benefits of the Y’s corporate wellness program include:

The Y Offers Two Options for Corporate Membership:

Option A: Employee Paid

The individual employee pays at a discounted membership rate to the Y; no cost to the company. This discount requires each individual employee to complete a membership form and show a company ID. The employee pays no join fee and receives a discount on their monthly fees.

Option B: Company Paid

The company pays the Y membership fee on a monthly basis for eligible employees. With this option, we can provide monthly attendance reports if needed for insurance or incentive purposes. We can also help with setting up incentives or adding additional wellness educational programs.

Procedures for Both Options

The company signs a simple memorandum of understanding outlining the membership benefits and discounted monthly dues and agrees to distribute information about YMCA of Boulder Valley membership to their employees up to four times per year.

Once a company has chosen to be a corporate member, we invite your employees to come in for a tour and get a free three-day pass to try the Y. They can use our facility, take part in our classes and even use our free Child Watch. For larger employers, we can arrange a three-day “Try The Y” week specifically for your employees. For either option, family members can be added and paid for by the individual employee also at a reduced rate.

Bring a little bit of the Y to your office. Our wellness staff can offer your employees their expertise through fun, engaging and informative sessions. Explore nutrition myths, learn about exercise options and even make your office a healthier place. No matter the topic you select, the Y will bring your workplace a focus on health, wellness and happiness. 

How Not To Gain 5 Lbs Over The Holidays

Tis the season to gain weight, right? Nope! Gaining 5 lbs over the holidays is actually a myth. The average person gains close to a pound of fat over the holidays but loses about 2/10th of a pound after the New Year. That still means the average American gets heavier and heavier every single year. What's even more alarming is that if you are overweight, you are even more likely to gain the proverbial 5 lbs in November and December. Learn how to not only maintain your current weight but even lose weight over the holidays. Be prepared and start your resolution in October or November.

What's Your Exercise Personality?

Learn how to find the best workout for your personality. Everyone's personality is so unique, shouldn't your physical activity reflect that? We'll take a look at various forms of exercise and the types of people who are generally drawn to them. Let's find the workout that best suits you!

Families Being Healthy Together

This class will focus on employees with kids and growing families. It will include a nutrition class for both parents and kids, helping them work together to attain better health. We will discuss the importance of being a positive role model for our children and how to set examples for our kids. And we will also talk about how it is necessary for everyone in the family to be on the same page with measurable goals to reach. The 40-minute class is followed by a 20-minute demonstration of easy, fun exercises to try at home with the kids.

The FIVE Components of Health

This lecture will focus on five very important components that together help individuals reach a healthy body, spirit and mind:

  1. Exercise: the importance of physical activity. 
  2. Nutrition: the importance of having a balanced and healthy diet every day.
  3. Sleeping: the importance of having a good routine and getting to sleep at a better time and how that ties in with our overall well-being. 
  4. Preventive care: the importance of staying ahead of diseases and what can be done to curb some “preventable diseases.”
  5. Mental health: the importance of staying active in the community, doing our civic duties to help others and connecting with friends, family and those around us to keep our minds occupied and strong.

Creating Good Habits

This lecture will highlight the connection between our everyday habits and our health. We look at how making small changes over time can help us attain improved well-being and even better productivity. Learn the simple truth behind achieving extraordinary results.

How to Move More at Work

The average American sits for more than 10 hours a day. Over time, prolonged sitting can lead to heart disease and organ damage, back pain, muscle degeneration, strained neck and brain fog. How do you avoid all of these hazards? Attend this interactive workshop and learn how to sit better, sit less, move more and be more productive at work.
